Failure!! I let this sit 8 weeks in plastic without racking it to glass because I got too busy with the summer, and it got infected. It turned very clear, but very sour, with a nice nasty film on top. I want to try this again, but not now... | |

Mash Style: Extract
Brew Style: English IPA
Ingredients for 5 gallons (19 L):
- 1.5 Goldings Hops, Boiling
- .25 Goldings Hops, Flavor
- .25 Goldings Hops, Aroma
- 6 Pale Malt
Instructions:
Add steeping grains to 1 1/2 gal. water at 160 F and hold for 15 minutes, then bring the wort to a boil. Add 1 1/2 oz. Goldings hops, boil for 45 minutes, add 1/4 oz. flavor hops, boil for 15 minutes, and then finally add 1/4 oz Goldings (aroma) and boil for a minute.
Bring down to below 80 deg F and add yeast. Transfer to a carboy after a day and let ferment ~10 - 14 days. Bottle & enjoy!

Inspiration: This is a kit from the wine and hop shop (wineandhop.com), so I don't know the grains. I presume this is pale malt since it's a pale ale, but 6 lbs was just an estimate. Give it a try!
