Red Badger Red Badger by erik
A clean red lager brewed with amber malt
Mash Style: Extract
Brew Style: Flanders Red Ale
Ingredients for 5 gallons (19 L):
- 1 lb Crystal (10 L) Malt, (This must have been more...)
- 1 oz Fuggle Hops
Instructions:
You may want to add some crushed grains as adjunct; place them in a grain sack while raising water to a boil. I know I did, but I can't remember what they were!
Add the amber malt and boiling hops into the water; boil for 1 hour. In the last 15 minutes, add the irish moss and saaz hops.
Because this is a lager you can ferment it at cooler temperatures (34-45 degrees) for 3-4 weeks, then bottle. I fermented in June, so I didn't really get the lagering down. It's taken until November for the taste to really clear up, but now it's crisp and clean like a lager should be.
